
BIOGRAPHY
S. Brian Jones is an artist committed to authentic discovery in exploring the Human Condition as a Writer, Actor and Arts Educator.
He holds a Master's degree in applied Theater from the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations with a minor in Theater and Business Management from Rhode Island College.
S. Brian is the Assistant Dean of Diversity & Equity in the Arts and Program Director for the BA in Writing for Diversity and Equity in Theater and Media at Pace University. He began his professional career at Delaware Theatre Company, where he worked as the Teacher in Residence and Summer Arts Program Director. While at Delaware Theatre Company Brian was instrumental in starting the Playwriting in Prison program at Ferris School for Boys and New Castle County Detention Center for youth. The program received Bravo’s Excellence in Arts Education Award. Brian also worked for Delaware Institute for Arts in Education conducting credential training workshops for teachers on the importance of Arts Education in the classroom and how to apply it to standardized curriculum. After three years with Delaware Theatre Company, Brian accepted a position at the Tony® award winning La Jolla Playhouse under the Artistic Direction of Michael Greif, while at La Jolla Playhouse Brian worked as an instructor for the Teen Summer Program and was the Teacher in Residence at “The Place” a high school for unhoused, runaway and transitional teens. Brian also worked as a Teacher in Residence for Playwrights Project of San Diego where he was in residency at University City High School’s Avid Program, King Elementary School RADAR Program and worked as the statewide coordinator for Cox Communication playwriting competition for California high school teens. Brian worked as the Director of Community Outreach for Ensemble Arts Theatre where he spoke before San Diego City Council on the importance of Arts Education in the classroom and was on the California Arts Organization Committee for the development of Critical Hours Programs for California.
Since relocating to New York, he has worked as The Workforce 2000 Program Director for The 1199 Child Care Corporation, Education Programs Manager for Epic Theatre Ensemble and as the Director of Operations for the historical social club The Players on Gramercy Park.
